I did receive my Prestige Philately Auction in the mail a little while ago. But Apparently not every one did. I received this email earlier today from them:
We have encountered a major problem with distribution of the catalogue for our General Public Auction on Friday 7th December at 1pm.
Most of our Australian clients have still not received their catalogues. We have replaced as many as we could, and remain hopeful that the others will turn up before the auction.
However, with only two days to go, bidding for this sale is much slower than usual. This could mean there will be many great bargains throughout the auction.
This is one of those rare occasions where you probably have a much better chance than usual of buying quality items for less than estimate. In fact, we encourage you to place covering bids on every lot in which you are interested. You may get some nice surprises. (Naturally, you can use our Limit Bidding option to avoid spending more than you want to.)”
Obviously we all can go and bid online, with or whitout the catalogue. BUT some people just won’t do it. Some might even not know that an auction will take place. Unfortunately this time around there was nothing I could use, although I’ll have another look today just in case!
You can see the listings here: Prestige Public Auction 177
Lots of gold coins are offered (including 38 Australian gold Sovereigns), small range of postcards, lots of Australian stamps and many scarce Australian Postal Stationery .
